"Brian had
his first experience in a helicopter simulator at age 5, when he accompanied
his sisters' Brownie Troop on a field trip to Fort Ord, California.
(Dad was in the Army - Brian tries not to hold that against him!)
At age 7, Brian told me that he really wanted to attend one of the service academies when he went to college, but that he didn't think we could afford it. When I told him that if he was good enough to get in, they would pay him to go there, his eyes got as big as saucers and he said, "They DO????" A service academy education was his goal from then on, and he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1999."
