Harding Middle School Leadership Kids Follow the Foxes! 2007

The Student Leadership at Harding Middle School adopted three Purple Foxes this year because of the great experience adopting a Purple Fox during the previous deployment. The group came up with the idea of reordering T shirts to show our support for the men and women who belong to the unit, but especially to our three adopted Marines, Sgt. Travis Pfister, LCpl Joseph Glass, and LCpl Anthony Smith. We used the logo from the web site for the front of the shirts, and came up with the slogan, "We Follow the Foxes" for the back. Each meeting we shared the letters, pictures, and emails we received from our adoptees, literally following what they do.

We've laughed at the funny stories they told, we've cried over the tragedy of losing a good friend, and we've felt proud to wear the shirts to support and honor the finest. We hoped that we helped to make the time away from family and home a little easier.

“In 2005, Harding Student Leadership adopted David Tefft
of the Purple Foxes. Helping David as well as the people he worked with gave us great joy while sending emails and care packages to help them get through their time in Iraq. As a result of the experience, we adopted four more soldiers to continue our support. Now, in 2006, we are adopting three more Purple Foxes to continue our motto,
“WE FOLLOW THE FOXES!”

Sydney and Memorial Day

Harding Middle School student Sydney honored her adopted Purple Fox, Sgt. Travis Pfister
by placing flowers on the bench dedicated to him on Memorial Day, 2007.

She picked out the flowers carefully – passing over the red, white and blue, for purple hydrangeas to
represent the colors of the ‘Purple Foxes’.
